Greenhouse Holistic Part 2

Pre-built greenhouses can also be an excellent choice. With prefabricated greenhouses it takes very little effort and assistance to put it together.

You can glaze your prefabricated greenhouse with regulation glass panels, fibreglass, or even plastic. You can find the materials easily from many different companies. As the planning of your greenhouse progresses, you will find that you have other decisions which you will face.

Where to Place Your Greenhouse

One of the biggest decisions you will face is where to put the greenhouse; the site location. This is vital for holistic greenhouses and involves a little planning on your part. The location has to be somewhere that is easy for you to access your greenhouse from.

You also need to make sure that the location gets as much direct sunlight as possible. Even if it’s not your intention to grow plants that prefer partial or full shade; consider putting the greenhouse in a sunny location. You will find that it’s true certain shade loving plants are profitable, but so are some sun loving plants.

You don’t want to limit your income potential because you didn’t choose a sunny spot for your greenhouse. It’s much easier to shade a greenhouse than it is to get sunshine into a greenhouse. Put your greenhouse in a sun filled location.

During the winter time and overcast days you can substitute sunshine by using Fluorescent and incandescent lighting. These types of lighting are okay for special situations or areas that have lighting problems, which will be talked about further down. However, you don’t want to rely strictly on this type of lighting for your main light source. Especially, considering you’re paying to have those lights on and the sunlight doesn’t cost anything.

The direction you’ll want your greenhouse to face is a south eastern or southern exposure. One other thing to note, there should be adequate drainage on the land you build your greenhouse on. If you plan on having customers come to your greenhouse, be sure it’s in a location that’s easy for them to find and get to. You’ll want to be sure you’ll have ample parking room available to them too.
