How to Build a Home Greenhouse
When you are ready to build the cold frame, you should
ensure that the cold frame faces south. One good idea, if
you're only going to have one frame, is to connect it to the
south side of your regular greenhouse wall.
If you're truly in need of the space and plan on building
several frames you should have them lined in rows. You could
either have these multiple cold frames freestanding or attach
them to something. For example, you could attach them to your
greenhouse, garage, house, or any other building or structure
you have.
If you live in a climate which gets very cold in the winter,
it's best to ensure your cold frame has a cover of matting. The
type of cover of matting can either be a roll up type or you
can even use straw mats. To protect your plants from the
harshness of the summer sun, you can use wooden slats,
cheesecloth, and shading paint compounds. Any of these will
help to keep your plants safe.
